If you've been reading these posts and finding yourself nodding, if you've been thinking yes, I want CE that doesn't feel like homework, and a community that doesn't feel like networking, and a career path that doesn't require burning out first... I built Wanderhome for you.
My name is Kanjana Hartshorne. I'm a licensed clinical social worker, certified yoga therapist, and Reiki Master with over 15 years in clinical practice spanning group practice leadership, hospice and cancer care, and integrative mind-body treatment. I specialize in somatic therapy, nervous-system-informed yoga therapy, parts work, ritual, and creative practices through a trauma-informed, body-first lens. And I draw deeply from my Sri Lankan Tamil heritage.
Wanderhome grew out of a simple problem: the CE and professional development available to therapists rarely matches how we actually learn.
The Problem Wanderhome Solves
Most continuing education follows a pattern: sit in a room (or in front of a screen), absorb information through lecture, get a certificate, go back to work, and forget most of what you learned within weeks.
Research backs up what most of us already sense: passive, lecture-based training improves knowledge but rarely changes therapist behavior or client outcomes (Beidas & Kendall, 2010). A longitudinal study found that increasing CE availability did not reduce licensing complaints, revealing a gap between earning credits and improving practice (Neimeyer et al., 2012).
Meanwhile, the research on what does work is clear. Active, experiential learning produces significantly greater gains in therapist competence and skill than lecture. Peer support sustains those gains over time. The relational context of training, feeling safe, seen, and supported, matters as much as the content.
What Wanderhome Offers
Experiential CE workshops and trainings. Every Wanderhome CE event is designed for therapists who learn through practice rather than lecture. We integrate somatic therapy, yoga therapy, mindfulness, positive psychology, energy work, creative arts, and therapeutic writing. You leave not just with knowledge but with embodied experience of the tools you'll use in your own practice and with your clients.
Therapist retreats. Deep, restorative spaces for therapists and healers to reconnect with self, rest, intuition, and meaning through movement, ritual, creativity, and nature. Our signature retreat, The Body Compassion Project, has been held at the Himalayan Institute since 2017.
The Wanderhome community. A membership space built on reciprocity, rest, imagination, and embodiment. Small groups, body doubling sessions, parallel play, and connection that honors introverted and neurodivergent ways of being.
The Somatic Sampler: Many Paths to Healing. Our newest offering, a two-part event where multiple clinicians approach the same case study using completely different modalities. EMDR, IFS, brainspotting, somatic experiencing, yoga therapy, art therapy, therapeutic writing, reiki, and more, side by side, no gatekeeping.
Who Wanderhome Is For
Wanderhome is for therapists, social workers, psychologists, counselors, yoga therapists, and somatic practitioners who want learning that is embodied, creative, intuitive, and sustainable. It's especially designed for neurodivergent clinicians, introverts, sensitives, and anyone who has ever felt like traditional CE was built for someone else's brain.
If you're burned out, lonely in your work, disconnected from your creativity, or craving community that feels safe and reciprocal, this is for you. If you want professional development that feels like coming home to yourself, this is for you.
Our Pricing Philosophy
Every Wanderhome offering includes equity-centered pricing: BIPOC/reparations rates, community sliding scale, pay-it-forward options, and student rates. If you need a lower price point, it's there. If you can pay full price, you're helping make the space possible for someone who can't. Access is a value, not an afterthought.
Come Home
Wanderhome is a place to come home to your Self and to find community. Whether you start with a free meditation on Insight Timer, join the interest list for The Somatic Sampler, attend the Body Compassion Project retreat, or step into the community, there's a path that meets you exactly where you are.
Many paths to healing. Welcome. I'm so glad you're here.
